    Expo 2020 Dubai countdown begins! ⏳

    On 1 October 2021, the long-awaited Expo 2020 will finally begin in Dubai. We have compiled 10 exciting facts about the Expo. We hope you enjoy reading them!

    The first Expo took place in London in 1851.

    Expo 2020 will feature more than 200 exhibitors from over 190 different countries.

    25 million visitors are expected.

    The entire Expo 2020 area covers a total of 4.38 square kilometers. That is about 5 times the size of the Europapark in Rust.

    The 360-degree dome is the largest projection screen in the world. The dome is made of 550 tons of formed steel and weighs about as much as 25 blue whales.

    In the Mobility Pavilion, you will encounter the largest passenger elevator in the world. It can carry more than 160 people at a time.

    On Terra, the pavilion of sustainability, there are more than 1'000 solar cells. This contributes to the generation of more than 4 gigawatt hours of alternative energy per year, enough to charge more than 900,000 mobile phones.

    More than 30,000 volunteers, Emiratis and residents, will help Expo 2020 visitors find their way around.

    The swirling shapes of the Expo 2020 logo are inspired by a 4,000-year-old gold ring. The ring was found in the desert by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the ruler of Dubai.

      In its 170-year history, the Expos have showcased many life-changing ideas and groundbreaking inventions.
